I play perfect BS and don't ever let my gut interfere. My friend sometimes stands 16 versus dealer 10 and it annoys me so much.
It shouldn't. That's about as close a call as there is in Blackjack. If the count is ever AT ALL positive, the odds actually do favor staying on 16 v. 10.

So staying on 16 is either the right move, or the wrong move by a razor thin margin.

Yep, have the Il18 down now so I get that.

Being a lone female card counter sucks. You get so many men trying to strike up a conversation with you. Last night I was wonging at some place and this guy was trying small talk with me while the dealer was reshuffling the shoe. Well of course that was okay but the moment she started dealing I cut him off, probably seemed a bit obvious to anyone else (if they even cared lol). But to take into account this eventuality, when he was blathering away at me, I just made out that I didn't have a clue about BJ so just wanted to "see how the cards fall" when the game starts :)

Being a lone female card counter means you avoid 90% of the possible heat from the house exactly because you are of the distaff persuasion. Make the most of it.

I have written before about my niece, who I consider the best counter I know.
One of her abilities is to use the male attention of the pit, dealers and other players to her advantage. Once you learn to count and play all indices while carrying on conversations with anyone around you, you will add to your longevity at the tables and not have awkward moments like having to say that you want to see how the cards fall.
As a talkative guy at the table I have found this to be good cover and because of stereotyping it is more effective for a woman.

Yep, it's easier to be talkative if people are talking to you, rather than having to invent conversation yourself.

I mean really, how much do people want to hear unsolicited tax advice? (I know the answer... it's "not much at all")

Pretty girls can't count, ugly girls are smart

The title here can describe the mental stereotyping on many a male pit or surviellance type.
Better to make yourself as pretty as possible but be able to keep the count while getting a lot of attention.

Oh man, just last night I was sitting next to a couple of drunk middle aged women who were making a lot of ruckus, while a weird old guy kept following them from table to table.

It was very entertaining.

quit bitching and take advantage of your edge

That is the whole point. An attractive female counter has an advantage going in that a male counter does not. Now after you play a while you may lose that edge but to be a real AP she could be exploiting this instead of complaining about this.

I am a female and I play blackjack. I have not been playing as much as I would like. I have trip to Vegas planned in August. I usually play twice a moth, but more if I am winning.

You go Girl!

If any one is going to hanging on the sidelines, it is my hubby. I am by far the expert. For the record, it has been mainly men who I have seen split tens.:whip:

My partner is a decent player, and she got me into the game. Before I really started training, she'd count and I'd be the dopey "big player" having fun and getting free drinks. Nice arrangement.

Any side fringe benefits from having a female player? You know what I mean.

Chill guys

show respect for the women on this site.

I had a teammate that was female, very attractive and an AP that was also a casino surveillance expert employed by a casino chain. She also happened to be a Lesbian with a child and a full time live in lover who also came along with her.

We had a great time together until the heat got to the point that she felt her job may be threatened. Have not tallked with her now for over 2 years.

Very fond memorys. I would rather play with a female AP teamate than a male anytime, much advantage to be had.

LOL. By "partner" I did mean "lover/companion/girlfriend" (unmarried), so yes, plenty of fringe benefits. I gotta watch my words here.

We've never gambled seriously. But we may at some point. She's a lawyer, to boot.
