I am heading to Ac in a couple hours. probably won't check out the hilton til 7 or 8 am, when it might be a little slower. just wanted to know the rules, penetration and what ever else you may offer before hand. :)
Where do u mostly play? I usually stay at Borgata, but also play at Taj and Marina, less often at Ballys, Harrahs.

I usually play a 4 casino rotation. Borgata, trop, resorts and taj. Game at Taj sucks but it is usually my home base where I stay. I rarely play HET properties. I occasionally check out the plaza and hilton to see what they are offering.

is this game dealt face up? I am assuming $25 tables?? how many tables are open?

face down. 2 tables: a table of 25 bucks (assuming Hilton fixes the broken shuffler) and a 100 bucks (no problem with the machine YET!)

broken shuffler on day 1. That's pretty funny. I better stop there. I am sure there are people cursing us out already for sharing this info in public.

So this is where you guys hang out

Hello to all my friends from bj21. 50% pen is tough to beat and not very attractive. I wouldn't worry about counter catchers because there won't be many true counters to catch.

Just noticed the pen improved..

...missed that posting. I think that you will also see other improvements. They are competing with Las Vegas for heavy action. If they are serious, they have to have at least s17. Also, players, even non-ap's, don't like no hole card games because it slows the game down too much. I assume the games are double on anything. If the games are face up, it is because they are primarily concerned about players marking cards in some way. Who cares, gives us more info before acting.

The way the DD games evolve should be an interesting case study.

Away from Freemont Street you can make a living...

...off of DD games with pretty decent rules and pen and not a great amount of heat if you know what you are doing. They abound in local's casinos and even on the Strip, if you know where to look.

A.C. is not just competing with downtown Las Vegas, but with every casino in Nevada and on the East Coast, with more on the way, not to mention all the casinos opening within driving distance. When Pennsylvania gets its act together and puts in table games hopefully there will be some real competition as long as the owners are different entities after the A.C. shake-up. I have a pretty good feeling you are going to see some great blackjack on the East Coast over the next couple of years.

Spent about 12 hours in AC today from 3am til mid afternoon. I did make a trip to the southern boardwalk to check out the DD game this morning after sunrise. There was only 1 table open. $100 minimum. There is a second table that was not open that rumor has it was a $25 table, but the shuffler is mysteriously broken on the first day of this new game.

No one was playing the $100 table. Just 3 pit guys standing and waiting. Just didn't look inviting to me so I headed to the northern end of boardwalk for breakfast and then out to the marina districk for the rest of the day. Was not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be for a holiday weekend, and turned into a pretty decent day for me.

I extended my east coast holiday trip 6 days just to check out this game, which I didn't really get a chance to do. I will probably make another day trip down there monday before I head west for the winter, but am not optimistic about this game.

This is a quick 2decker-report in addition to Jason's.

1) Shuffler at table#608 has been removed.
2) Shuffler at table#003 also has been removed.

6 decker games are played at both tables. 2deckers have been suspended until shufflers are repaired & reinserted in both tables.

Look at it this way. What is motivating this foray into the once taboo double deck game in AC? Could it have something to do with the emergence of blackjack in nearby states, PA, DE, and WV. I understand that Charlestown, WV, one hour out of Washington, DC, will have a double deck game. AC is three hours away. DC is a major market for Atlantic City. Bring on the competition!

I am sure they determined that shuffling by hand every two minutes would create way too much down time and it would be more cost efficent to go to 6decks. However, I find the whole situation pretty suspicious. At any rate I am so glad I postponed my trip west so I could spend an extra week here in this lovely weather to check out these games.:(

Another example of brilliant casino logic. A somewhat slower DD game tops an empty table. Why couldn't I think of that?:confused:

Why pay royalties, when you can hand shuffle nearly as fast? One house told me that they make out better with the hand shuffle. Some houses have both, maybe because they appeal to different players. Personally I like the inconsistency of the hand shuffle over the rigorous shuffle of the machine. But maybe that's all in my head--I never did a study.

At one of my prime casinos they were having a speed shuffle contest one night on a 6d. The winner did the 1 pass shuffle in 36 seconds, ave was 48.

I heard a rumor a couple of players came in and ran rampant all over the game taking 6 figures off of them in just a few hours so they shut the games down.
