Hi-Opt I, Ill18, and Other Questions

Thanks for all the input guys. It was very helpful and I'm currently reevaluating my game.

A question about splitting 10s: Is the mathematically correct play to split just once or resplit until the TC drops below the index?

I noticed that 2 of the I18 plays are:

12 vs. 5, TC = -2
12 vs. 6, TC = -1

I'm sure they're correct but just seems REALLY counterintuitive. I'm the type of person who likes to know or see the "why" behind something. I guess practically it doesn't matter, just know it and do it.

Hi-Opt II with an Ace side count is a very powerful strategy that edges out AOII with a SC except for very deep penetrations that no longer exist, albeit very difficult to use. Hi-Opt I is simply a lousy count. Sorry Igor.

Hmmm CVCX does not agree with you Norm :), Hi-Opt II with ace SC is still the bestest.

Those are for S17. The reason for this is if the Dealer flips an ace on the 6 they made a hand. No matter what card the dealer flips on a 5, he/she is pulling a 3rd card.

The indice for 12 v 6 in a H17 is more negative than the indice for a 12 v 5 because if the dealer pulls an ace they have to draw again on the soft 17.

Sure as long as the TC is matching the index value, the correct play would to be to split.

ao2 vs ho2

Optimal bets calculated by CVCX. Full indices and ace SC. No Bias.

Note: Compensated for bet spread with same name(1-8, ho2). Not a mistake.

Depends on the exact configuration.

In an attempt to account for different rules, etc, I ran 39,936 sims each for SD, DD, 6D and 8D for the common strategies, two different spreads, all penetrations, 16 rule combinations and then combined the SCOREs weighted by the currently existing frequencies of rules in U.S. casinos. Hi-Opt II won at all penetrations in double-deck. In the other deck games, AOII edged out Hi-Opt II at very high penetrations.

I am just curious what kind of rules would make AOII edge out Hi-Opt II and what penetrations. For shoe games the most common rules by far are S17 DAS.

I didn't look at individual sims. H17, DAS edges out S17, DAS in number of U.S. tables for 6D. Closely followed by H17, DAS, RSA.

Just from a quick glance, H17 and increased number of decks seem to favor AOII

Probably more trouble than what its worth, but, is it at all, possible to see some of this data?

I wonder if adding some of those extreme indices that Lance Humble uses, would give ao2 a slight boost for 2D?

One thing, that is worth mentioning is, is even though their on par in performance, ho2 like IC&Ts graph shows, Scores much better, than a02. It futhermore, has a lower RoR, and is much easier to use than the 9-point count ao2, with the reckoned nines.

Im not near as nervous when holding one of those frequent pesky H12s, when using ho2:)

Ps. Is that Al Francesco, that joined the boards today?
