Blackjack Strategy Trainer and doubling

I have been using the blackjack strategy trainer and its a good way to get your strategy locked down, my question is why does the trainer state that you should double on 10 against a 10. All the charts I have ever read including the one's on this website say to hit and not double.
I Play S17, D9, DAS, No Surrender, No Peak.

Im just wondering, does it tell you to double 9vs7 and A5 vs 3 as well, cause unless im sadly mistaken these would actuall be a BS play in 1/2 deck game.

If not,

1: You were reading the wrong chart.

2: You were reading the right chart, and its simply wrong!

3: You were simply misreading the chart!

Could you tell me exactly what rules this would be true for, or provide a link to a BS chart showing this?
 
I haven't checked myself, but the two plays jack jackson described sound like they could quite possibly be correct basic strategy for the game he mentioned. Remember, he's talking about a "1/2" deck game, with only 26 cards in the deck.

Back to DC15's initial question... The blackjack strategy trainer at this site doesn't say you should double 10vT under any rule settings. Perhaps you were confused? Or at another site with a less accurate trainer?

I think he did mean 1 or 2 deck game. It would make no sense to be talking about a 1/2 deck game...
 
Im am 110% sure it suggests that the correct startegy is to double 10 against picture cards, I played the game over and over and found that it doesnt suggest to hit on ten against an actual ten, but it does when 10 comes up against a picture card. Im convinced its a problem in the software because the strategy charts all suggest hitting on 10 against 10.

6 decks, I really did try it over and over and it was still suggesting to double on 10 against picture cards but it doesnt for an actual 10, it has to be an error in the software because the charts generated in the strategy engine for the same rules do not double 10 against 10..

I cant see how a software program could make such an obvious mistake!
But that definitely seems to be the case. Could you determine wether it tells you to double A4 vs 3, A5 vs 3 ,10 vs A, 9 vs 7 as well. If so its quite possible these plays were generated under the assumption of just 1/4 or 1/2 deck of cards.

Wether or not these would be actual BS plays i cant say for sure, but do speculate that they would be! Except for the fact TT vs X would give us a hand composition of a r.c of -3 and a t.c -6 just making negative enough not to BS play with 1/2 deck remaining and a t.c of -12 with a 1/4 deck remaining.

I know this starts to get a little confusing because im not sure if hand composition and playing indexes are two different things! What! say that again! What i mean is why is 9 vs 2 a double play in single deck. Bet yet for my L2 i have a playing index of +4.

Im probably making this more confusing than what its worth! just hit the dang 10:laugh:
 
Well, I just tried to duplicate the problem. I set the Blackjack Strategy Trainer to 6 decks, S17, D9, DAS, No surrender, Strategy Coach on. (There's no setting for no-peek as you described, though that enhancement has been requested by several visitors.)

After a couple of hundred hands, I finally got the hand pictured below. I hit as basic strategy indicates. As expected, there was no complaint from the strategy coach.
I don't know why your experience would have been different.

No problem here either

I just finished playing 300 hands. The situation of a total of 10 vs. a picture came up 7 times. 6 times I hit with no complaint from the Strategy Coach; once I tried doubling and it said I should have hit. I had 5,5 vs. an actual 10 once, and hitting was correct there, too.

So, I guess I'd like to see a screen shot of this malfunction happening.
