best ways to conceal chips from the table

why not just take them off the table and put them in your pocket? its not hard.. unless you are betting blacks and the cameras are watching you (highly doubtful), it wont matter.. i honestly think that some ppl get off on being covert, and think that everything you do has to be done in a secret manner.. chances are nobody knows or cares your counting, or how much youve won.. in fact if you bought in for $200, and 2 hours later had $500 sitting in front of you, i highly doubt the pit crew would be like "hmm hes up $300, better start watching him".. but if for some odd reason you think they are watching you, ready to boot you after you win too much, then its easy, you simple take all your chips, go to the bathroom (lots of ppl dont leave their chips), and put a few blacks in your pocket, then come back

If a person is a successful card counter/AP, then continually winning decent amounts of green and/or black chips at the same casino can draw unwanted attention. Ratholing some of those chips can make big wins look like modest ones, and perhaps even losses.

As far as the original question goes, 420 poses a good technique in which you take your chips with you on a bathroom break, and return with a couple less chips. Another one I like to use is during the shuffle...palm one or two big chips and get them in my pocket while doing a little "stretching" or checking of the cell phone for texts.

That works fine for red chips,but most casinos track black chips.Hide a few in your pocket and when the PB asks the dealer where his black chips are,he'll reply-in that guys pocket.

Good point...I should have left my comment to green chips, because that's honestly the only denomination I've ever personally ratholed! :(
 
Since most places watch the black and above, try doing a check change: a couple of black for some green. Keep a little bit of green in front of you and rathole that instead of the black when the chance becomes available. Might need bigger pockets though...either way, pocketing is a sure way to draw heat. They might not fry you, but they will take a second look and maybe make a phone call upstairs too.

Let us say you buy in for $1000. Take $500 green and five black. Nothing is stopping you from making bets with a chunky pile of green and once you have a bunch of greens, no one will miss the few you pocketed.

That's a big negative.

The variance in blackjack is much bigger than the amount any person can rathole. A big win is still a big win, a big loss is still a big loss.

The main purpose of ratholing is to distort your cumulative win/loss record from the casino. At ratholing consistenly in both wins and losses makes it easier on you because you don't have to hide EVEN MORE only when you're winning.
