Something funny: I reread my post to get a sense of the thread, BEFORE I read your correction above, and I found the typo myself and edited it! I took typing in seventh grade and never was very good at it. To this day, it saddens me that I type with two fingers -- and still not very well, at that. But, it's no excuse for sloppy proofreading on my part. I need to reread my posts more slowly before hitting the Enter button.

Well, come on now, this thread went off the rails quite a while back. ;)

I didn't make too big a deal about it because understand people have different concerns based on their circumstances. People who are more vulnerable, through medical circumstances right through to age are going to have much different concerns than someone younger and healthier and be pretty passionate about those concerns.

And to be honest, had I not had this virus and survived/recovered, I would not have set foot back in a casino yet and likely would have no plans to at this time. AND I still have concerns. So I can't fault anyone for being passionate about health concerns based on their situation.
 
Again, to be clear, what riles me is not just MY health concern, but the disregard of those who don't wear masks for the health of OTHERS. Again, the more common surgical masks protect OTHERS from the wearer, and not vice versa. So, each person who goes out in a crowd without a mask is showing blatant disregard for the health (and possibly lives) of others. So, to me, governors who don't make mask-wearing mandatory for scenes such as demonstrations and casinos are endangering the lives of the citizens of their states. Of course, in the case of Las Vegas, we know that the mayor is brain-dead.

Every day, the number of states with increasing hospitalizations is on the rise. Given the above, this is not the least bit surprising. What is disappointing, of course, is that the assholes causing the rise simply don't give a shit. They are too ignorant to care. Sad.

Not sure if you are aware but the Mayor of Las Vegas is not a real Mayor. It is unlike any other mayor's position. It is not a governing position. It is a ceremonial position only. The job consists of cutting ribbons at grand openings, and basically being a cheerleader for the gambling and tourist industry, which is Las Vegas. The only real official duty she has is to gavel in the meetings of the county commissioners meetings (who is the real governing body in Las Vegas) and even at that the mayor doesn't even get a vote. Just bangs the gavel. :rolleyes:

And for anyone that doesn't know, the "city" of Las Vegas of which she is Mayor, consists of the downtown Fremont street area basically. There are no hospitals (except the specialty Cleveland Clinic cancer hospital over by the outlets). There are no grocery stores. There aren't even many people that live there. She controls and governs nothing. The job is completely ceremonial, which is why a complete drunk like her husband had the job for 12 years (term limits). The guy was drunk on Martini's by 10am. He was never really running anything and neither is his wife. She has a big pair of scissors to cut ribbons at grand openings. :D

That stunt on the national news (CNN) was just a complete embarrassment to herself as well as those of us that reside in the Las Vegas region.
 
So, just 11 days after re-opening of casinos here in Vegas, my brother and I have decided to take the summer off from further casino AP play. We both have had and recovered from the virus which should afford us some immunity and protection, but there remains just too much uncertainty about this situation.

My brother heard Dr Fauci last week on CNN talking about all the uncertainty. Dr Fauci said something to the effect that "we don't even know what the people who have recovered will be like in 6 months" and my brother found that very unsettling. I think Fauci was just re-emphasizing the uncertainty of anything.

But the truth is If it had just been me, I wouldn't have rushed back to the casinos. I mean they are basically a petri dish for anything that comes down the pike. But because I share a condo with my brother I didn't feel like I could ask him not to resume his life because I had concerns. Now that he too has concerns, we are just going to take the summer off and enjoy outdoor activities, spending time on the boat, biking, hiking, maybe a second trip to California to catch some waves. Just outdoor activities that seem a little safer. And we will re-evaluate come September and see what that brings. Just no need to spend the summer inside casinos.
 
I am astounded by the cavalier, moronic behavior of those in the casinos and those protesting -- in the latter case, mostly younger people, arrogoant and thinking to be invincible -- when it has been demonstrated over and over again that the younger population is just as much susceptible to the virus as other age groups. You have to wonder at what age the human brain actually begins to function effectively.

That sounds like a pretty good summer plan. Come back later when things are better understood.
Hell you only live once...if you can afford it, then just take the summer off and have some fun outside of the casinos. Go do something you have always wanted to do, etc.
Who even knows what BJ will be like in the year to come...this has been a pretty unprecedented shakeup for casinos that's for sure.

Yes most young people are dumb and think themselves invincible, little doubt about that. Lol.
And yes, it does seem at present that everyone no matter age is susceptible to acquiring this virus.
But in my state, nearly half of all deaths have been people 60+ that lived in nursing homes.
And 9 out of 10 deaths have been people 60+.
Almost zero children have died as far as I have seen...which is interesting.
So maybe the young are pretty safe, at least as we know so far.
