Getting backed off

Recently one of my friends (counter) got backed off from a table and was asked to leave and the guy who backed him off said he couldnt come back for 72 hours. If they clearly know that he was counting, why wouldnt they just kick him out for good? Is it worth it for him to try and go back after the 72 hours is up and attempt to use the same strategy as before? Any insight on how to proceed from here is appreciated.
 
Did they say that he couldn't play blackjack ever?

Was the 72 hour restriction on entering the casino at all?

If there wasn't an explicit or implied lifetime blackjack restriction, it doesn't make much sense.

(unless they wanted to wait until their counter catcher came back from his weekend to review some tape) :)

I really hope your friend getting backed off doesnt threaten your ability to play there. That does happen ya no, especially if the casino has been backing off a lot of counters lately they will probably be on high alert. I'd say the 72 hours thing doesnt mean much and that your friend is probably done playing at the place for a while longer than 72 hours. :joker:
 
All they told him is that he cant enter the casino for 72 hours. After that, he is free to come back in and play blackjack again. I dont get why they did that. As soon as he tries to go back in and count wont he get backed off again? Maybe even a lifetime ban this time?
 
i would just make sure your friend isn't counting with the same PB on shift or same dealer. also don't be too obvious.
 
I have a feeling that its not that simple... He used a players card a few times in previous trips and he didnt this time and the PB that backed him off still called him by name. They identified him just simply by the cameras or a PB called up to them and notified them.
 
Im also worried that they will look at the tapes and see him talking to me and leaving with me, eventually leading to myself getting watched closer and possibly getting backed off as well. Again, any insight is appreciated.
 
72 hours may be just a stock time frame they use if they know you're from out-of-town figuring that is the typical lenght of stay for a counter's trip.
 
Stay the hell out of that place for awhile. Maybe come back on another shift, but don't burn yourself out. Obviously your friend was doing something wrong, as well.
 
Yeah true but Im pretty sure the casino knows he is local because the last time he went he used is card which was a week ago and this time he didn't use his players card and the casino still knew is name and info.
 
I think they just want him to go to his room and think about what he did. That's how to punish bad boys.

i believe the the 72 hours thing is probably outlined in their gaming act for the state and is the legal requirement. This would apply for anyone say if they got to roudy and flipped a chair. So probably if you do come back in that time frame you would be arrested if they chose regardless what you did, kinda a "friendy" reminder not to cross the "legal" line. Some places for them to legally 86 you with the tresspassing act and all they have to send you it in certified letter and so on.
So as long as they don't have any personal information on you so they can send it to you and you don't accept any paper from them they are going to have a real tough time 86ing you:laugh:

I don't live in the USA so i dont know if the exact rules apply, but thats how they work for me..

just go google the law for gaming and you will find out.

They say 72 hours so that management has time to decide whether they want to extend a counters back off or even bar them from the property for an extrended amount of time.

All you need to do is go to your car get a new hat on and go back inside 5 minutes later.. if you really want to stick it them thats what you do:joker:

it means that you're small potatoes and someone verfied you as a counter because they were bored and theyre firing a warning shot

go make your $100 a week somewhere else or they will permban you. any1 you have been there with has also been id'd as a counter, just not high enough priority for them to boot

nice job getting kicked out in a place with 500 tables btw
