    Taking on the casinos

Let me get this straight. You hate casinos, so you go to the casinos you hate, and engage in the hated games casinos offer, so you can make some money and in the process damage the hated casinos, so they will go out of business and no longer offer the hated games you desire to play, so you will...

New (To me) ploppy lingo. Wtf?

Fascinating! Thanks for this lucid explanation -- although now I'll be thinking about Automatic Monkey every time I hear it. :)

    New to counting

Start with an "easy" Level I system like KO. The theoretical advantage of stronger systems can easily be lost by player error. Level I systems like KO and Hi-Lo are "strong enough." Other aspects of your game, in particular, playing conditions and money management will make more of a difference...

    novice - help?

Always...Yeah, right. The other day I put a black chip on black at the roulette table and doubled my money in one spin. That always happens...except when it doesn't. You can count cards, if you put in the time to practice. It's about as hard as walking. Most people can't do that when...

    new career help

Flash is exactly right. The thing is...many jobs offer competitive wages, particularly when one consider health coverage, social security, etc. And the standard deviation in those jobs is practically 0. Then again, one has to put up with bosses who are, well, ...

Double Down 11 vs Ace Basic Strategy Deviations

Just do it This is one of those plays that I will sometimes play (i.e., DD), regardless of the count. I've been away from the game for a couple of years, so I forget the exact penalty for playing this way, but I believe it is minimal. Since it is the "wrong" move, you get a bit of...

    Beware of the internet...

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me... My guess would be that there was some aspect of your play that caught their attention -- after all you have a 5-year history there. They've had plenty of time to watch you.

When do you work out the true count?

Avoid the Math I think another shortcut, which avoids some of the math, is to memorize some of the key RCs. For example in 6D, with Hi-Lo, if I am going to ramp my bet when TC>1, I know in advance that with 1 deck in the tray, I need a RC of about 5 or better. Once I get 2+ decks in the tray...

When do you work out the true count?

I use Hi-Lo and I am pretty casual about TC (perhaps I am making a mistake ). Much of the time the RC is low and I don't bother calculating the TC. If the RC gets too negative, I know I'll be wonging out. When the RC starts to rise, I pay more attention, usually at the end of the hand, when...

Very annoying people - How to handle?

LOL, I like this, but there have been a few times I felt physically threatened. I guess I am OK at the table, under the eye, but you never know what some of these jerks are capable of.

    Back in the Saddle Again

Maybe it was MB I. I thought it was the second edition, but I might be mistaken. Thanks for alerting me to that.

    Back in the Saddle Again

After a couple of years away from BJ, I'm at it again. It feels a bit odd to have to bust out the BS tables and drill, drill, drill, to get my speed back up. I'm about 95% accurate at 35 hands per minute, but I can remember when I was 100% at 40+ hands. At least it's coming back more easily...
