A Day in the Life of....a Pro

Well this is mainly directed at Craps Master but any pro (chunky yellow?) could respond. I am curious (maybe others are too) what is a typical day/week/month like for a pro BJ player? I know it can't be as glamorous as it would be portrayed by Hollywood, but what do you do in average day? I mean I get up at 4:15 am in order to be at work by 6, but I'm out of work at 2:30 and then have the rest of the day to do whatever I need to. So what do you do? What do you do if you have a winning day/ losing day? ETC.

I think this could be very good info for those who have considered or are considering going pro. It could give them incite into what to expect if/when they make it pro.

Well I wake up around noon. Then I practice until about 5. That's when I hit the casinos until about midnight and hit the sack around 2am.

I'd imagine there are many of us who LOVE the jobs we have.I certainly wouldn't trade mine for the chance to practice and play BJ 12 hours a day.

IS SCMC saying that this BJ routine is a standard thing plus the double major?

Would you rather work 12 hours a day and retire at the age of 30 or 40, or work 8 hours at a normal job until you hit the retirement age? When you finally retire I'm sure you'll have a couple of good years left...

If you enjoy your "normal job", what is wrong with working until you are 50 or 60? And having the funds to go on vacation, play blackjack, etc.? Not saying that playing blackjack for 12 hours a day after practicing isn't fun...wait, I guess I am.

Who says that you are guaranteed to "retire" from blackjack at the age of 30-40 anyways Scott, SCMC, whoever your login is anyways? Just curious.

if you were to retire at age, let's say 30ish, by today's standards you need to have roughly 4.5 million in the bank/assests.

and this is a conservative number. think you can do that counting cards full time?

There's a lot better chance then if I got a 9-5 job.

CheffJJ, just curious, if you WANTED to retire, when is the earliest you think you could do it with your job? Be honest with me, probably the retirement age right?

Plus, I never said I was going to retire from playing "blackjack"...

School ended a couple weeks ago.

I really like making tons of money playing blackjack. The only reason I only play from 5-12 is because that's the only time the bars are open. If one was open 24/7 then I would try to be there 24/7 too.

Honestly...the earliest that I COULD retire from my job right now and be able to live the same or higher lifestyle is, ballpark, 55. Not sure if I will stay in the same type of position I am in until I am 55, since I may venture out as a consultant/partnership down the road as my connections improve. But, since I thoroughly enjoy what I do, I don't know if I would truly "retire" then.

Enough about me...I've got a lot going for me these days and I am very appreciative.

Scott, SCMC, I can never remember who is who and what does what, but someone pointed out that you are probably the same person. I could care less, find it a little funny, but what was the gist of your original question about retiring? A salary-type job vs. professional BJ player seems to be an apples vs. oranges comparison.
