You can't really go wrong with any of the casinos. for a mid-boardwalk experiance, I'd go with Ceasars. If you want the Marina district, Harrahs offers the better value, while Borgota has a better vibe.

How do you define best? nicest regular rooms? nicest suites? best location? best food? best games?
Just the hotel. Rooms, pool, hot tubs, etc.

I'll eat whatever is free, and I'll play all over town.

Trop and Hilton have the easiest room comps. For food, it all depends on what you want. I'd rather pay for food than eat crap.

If you end up needing to stay in a roach motel the ones on the White Horse Pike (Rt. 30) are fine but the ones on the Black Horse Pike (Rt. 40) are very dangerous, because they're accessible by bus and foot from the city.

I think I'm going to try Caesar's. I'll report back on the experience.

Pool - Nicest pool is Harrahs Marina. If you want a pool for swimming laps, go with Borgata - they have a dedicated time for swimmers. Caesars only has an outdoor pool. You can use the pool at Ballys if you stay at Caesars, but you have to pay.

Rooms - At Caesars, for a regular room, request the Centurion tower. It was renovated last year and is very nice. Avoid the Temple Tower. Some of the rooms have no windows. The Borg has nice rooms, too, but housekeeping isn't what it used to be there. Harrahs has a new wing that's supposed to be very nice, but I've never stayed there. The games suck at Harrahs and you have to travel to play.

Food - Best buffet is at the Borg.

Best rooms

The best rooms are without a doubt are the Water Club rooms at the Borg.
Best buffet is also the Borg.
Best pool, well I wouldn't know since I spend most of my time gambling.
Best game, probably the Borg right now.

Sadly, some of us have companions that don't want to gamble 12 hours a day. Or, maybe not so sadly, depending on how you look at it...

water club rooms are nothing special. definitely not worth paying for if you have to. comped is another story.

but yes i think everyone agrees, borg buffet is best in town, especially the black card member only one.

Me, I've been trying to keep away from all buffets. My natural instinct is to maximize EV, and at an all-you-can-eat buffet, you know what that means. :gaga:

Decent non-buffet food: In the Trop you have Carmine's, for huge portions of good Italian food. Across from it is Zeytinia market which has fantastic yuppie food, available after hours. Hilton has The Oaks which serves good hamburgers at the bar until about midnight. The Metropolitan at Borgata. Decent all night coffeeshop: Breadsticks at Resorts. Asian noodle bar: N.O.W. at Borgata or the one at Caesar's. Light Italian/gourmet pizza: Evo at Trump Plaza.

Avoid: buffet or 24 hr. coffee shop at Hilton, buffet at Trop, Hooters at Trop, pretty much any non-casino food place on the Boardwalk, Phillips seafood out on the Steel Pier (it's nothing like a Phillips in Ocean City) and the bar at Caesar's (overpriced drinks and full of whores.)

Hilton buffet isn't bad, especially when comped...

My vote for the worst smelling restaurant is the Asian place next to the high roller pit at Showboat.

I would say borgota is nicest because its alot newer then the other places in town, ceasers is also a good place, i like the hilton if you have the points and a host to get you a nice room, they are a smaller casino so i feel they give a little more attention to there guests then the larger places.

absolute cheapest place in AC (or on any NJ transit bus nearby) that rents by the week instead of by the day--and always has vacancies?

years past i stayed at the chelsea pub $100 a week--but thats no longer an option. once i stayed in vineland $90 a week--hell of a long ride though. should i go with whitehorse or blackhorse pike? or can i get one in AC itself?

paying under $125 a week would be great, but prepared to pay up to $195. will be coming with a $2000-4000 roll and unless i find the BJ machines that pay 3-2 and let u count the cards--i'll end up playing nothing but $1-2 NL poker, maybe even a little stud.

any advice helpful. i have slept by the pool all day, showered there too many times in ballys for $30 a day on fridays and saturdays to avoid paying for hotel rooms. only spa i know of which doesnt require u to be a hotel guest, and allows anyone to use the spa simply by paying $30. once id wake up id go back to the $1-2 NL game, rebuyin for $60 minimum, and start grinding away again.
