I heard a rumor that the casinos in AC (and possibly elsewhere) put something in the air that keeps you awake...is this true?

It is definitely a myth- all you would need is a couple of percent more oxygen in the atmosphere and things would burst into flame.
Hey that might be a good way to enforce the new non-smoking rules!

It's not what they put in the air; it's a matter of how efficient their ventilation systems are. The Borgata and other casinos have spent millions of dollars on high-tech ventilation systems. In particular, there was an article that said that the borgata pumps in fresh air 3x an hour by their massive ventilation system. Even some table games have small vents that blow air up or away; sometimes the dealer places the cards near them and seem to wonder why it's blowing gently the card.

No myths. I just read somewhere that some casinos circulate scents and oils in their ventilation systems "to try to put gamblers in a good mood" from Smartmoney May 2005 article "10 Things Your Casino Wont Tell You." A company called AromaSystems has several casino clients: The Borgata, Mohegan Sun, Barona Valley Ranch Resort&Casino, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, Venetian, and 25 others in NV.

The air in AC is generally cleaner now with the partial smoking ban.
