It really feels like about 1% of people I've encountered at the blackjack tables play observably perfect BS. May be as high as 4%, but I doubt it.

And I think I've encountered maybe 7 counters over the last 18 months. Not seven percent, seven.

I forgot to mention that 6 of the 7 counters that I've stumbled were at one local casino. Kind of ridiculous.
And they were all at the same table and from M.I.T.:flame: :flame: :flame:

And I think I know what casino that is. It's one of the places that lots of us have played in, or will.

But it seems I meet more counters in one day in Las Vegas than in one year in Connecticut.

re

i've probably run into over a dozen counters and it was all at the same casino and thats only in a one year period (its a big casino). But almost all of them were bad counters because when the running count would go up to 6 after the first hand of a six deck shoe, they would start throwing out max bets haha. Needless to say they werent very successful

If someone is exhibiting perfect BS at all times, then he is not counting. He's just perfectly BS'ing.

I know! I told them they really shouldn't wear the school sweatshirts the next time they came. They just looked at me confused and went back to their graphing calculators.

Les than 2% BS, less than .05% counters. zg
And I've found that those who play BS are all over the map on various plays, like 12 vs. 2 or 3, 11 vs. 10 or A, A6 vs. 7, A7 vs. 9, 66 vs. 2, 88 vs. 10, etc. They either pick and choose when they disagree with BS, they are using some generalized version of BS, they are mixing up 6-deck with SD or DD BS, or they don't realize their mistakes.

I think ZG numbers are pretty close on this one. I dont play as often as many members on this board but in 150 hrs of play over the last 2 years I can say I only ran across 1 person I could say for sure was counting.

I know. I keep looking and looking and looking. It's like hoping a long lost member of your family will show up, but they never come. I'll just keep looking! :(

I actually met another counter from this forum for a beer, turns out we have crossing paths for a year or so. It really was refreshing doing shop talk with someone who loves and understands the game. Otherwise I have only noticed 2 other counters at the same table as me in 2.5 years.

cheers

now this is interesting

this is one of the things that absolutely astounds me!!

I see very few people play basic strategy correctly... usually maybe one person per every other table I sit at... and almost never on a $10 table....

Also, I know for a fact that my last 3 day trip to Vegas 2 weeks ago, I only saw ONE person with a basic strategy chart!! hell , I still carry one in my pocket in case I forget what to do on my splits (those I just cannot seem to memorize).... THEY even sell charts in the giftshops!!!

as far as counters,,, I don't think I have ever seen one..... so they either are notthere or their spreads are real tight

I think your right about the BS and Card Counter Precentage, I have encourted several "Card Watchers" For lack of a better term, For example if 6-8 small cards come out, I see these people spike up their bets sometimes as much as 5 times their intital bet. I felt bad because i couldnt tell them that we were still in a negative count :)
