Do the cards get shuffled in the black box?

When the dealer puts a stack into the black box behind the table, what happens to the cards?

I feel dumb asking this and I would feel even dumber if you told me that they come out in the same order as they go in.

The real truth

Those "black boxes" are collected at the end of each shift, taken to the money room, stacked on pallets and secretly distributed one at a time to each outbound flight to Mafia Headquarters in Chicago. Occasionally they show up after plane crashes and are immediately transported via FAA who, for public purposes claim to be sending them to D.C. for analysis, although their real destination is O'Hare.:cool2:

A small jet of organic solvent washes off all the ink on the cards, then one by one the cards are reprinted with different card values.

Because 10's and faces have more ink than most cards, you can often catch a faint smell of printing ink when a face card is drawn from the shoe. Ask the dealer whether you can smell the hole card.

Serious Question: What happens to the cards at the end of the shoe?

The dealer turns to the left and a little thing pops up. The dealer drops the cards in the holder and the cards go down into a box. Another holder thing pops up with a new set of cards.

Do the cards get shuffled inside the box?

My other topic turned into a damned joke (a-holes! you know who you are)

Probably what you're describing is called an automatic shuffling machine. It shuffles one shoe while you play the other. There's no effect on basic strategy or card counting.

Actually it is a casino secret that nobody really nows. Some people say they get shuffled or they get put in order so you can't beat the house. Some pit bosses have taken this secret to the grave with them. Thats why it is a little black box.

You get a lot of comps when you go to the casino don't you?

If not, call the casino, show them your posts here and they will have a limo at the airport waiting to pick you up.

They pass through a wormhole to an alternate universe, where there is another you who wins a hand every time you lose one and vice versa. John Malkovich is dealing.

Are you talking about this? or one of their other shufflers perhaps?

cards

I was told today what happens inside those machines by a dealer. He said two f ing chipmunks are inside rearranging the damn things. Sometimes they are quick and sometimes someone spills there drink in the machine and gets the chipmunks drunk and it takes forever. I geuss they argue alot when drunk and decide which order to put the cards. blackchipjim

Except for splitting 8's vs dealer 10. That hand loses in every universe.

I opened a shuffling black box once... all that was inside was a rectangular slab 1x4x9 inches. :juggle:
