first trip to AC need advice

#1
Hello all,

Making my first trip to AC. Have had some success playing in the FWoods looking for advice on play in AC. Bankroll is limited/tight playing 10-30 spread, skill level competent. Where and what games would you recommend in AC? Thanks

For 10$ betting, Borgata has S17, 8 decks I think it is still 75% penetration. Almost all other stores are H17 only at $10 levels.

If you mean 3 to 1 spread by betting $30 max and $10 min, you can't win.

You need to raise your bankroll first before you enter the door of a casino.

The Borg generally only has 1 $10 table right now unless you're lucky and are playing on a weekday morning or afternoon. BJgenius, he can win with aggressive wonging.

Roll is slim about $1200 planning to some very aggressive Wonging. Not sure what to expect at AC, could use any advice, including where to eat, don't have time to waste.

But wonging on a generally full table is next to impossible, and Borgata keeps its tables full whenever possible. . Windows of opportunity will be slim and none at most times, don't you think?

Foxwoods conditions are better than you will find in A.C.
IF you are going on a Fri. - Sun. you will be hard pressed
to find a seat at a $15 table, no less lower. You are severely
under-capitalized, but that should be profoundly obvious.
That means that you are a long-shot to even survive more than
a day's play.

Besides worse penetration than you are used to, and no Late
Surrender either, low stakes players in A..C. will almost always
be forced to play a Hit17 game — and find very few opportunities
to wong-in anywhere. Do you know Basic Strategy for a H17 shoe
game? Do you understand that at the H17 8 deckers, often with
2.0 − 2.2 decks cut off, a good spread, that may make you some
money would be in the ballpark of 20 to 1 [$15 - $300]; but half
of that should "keep your head above water.

Yeah good point Aslan. They pack 'em in like sardines at the Borgata now.

Go easy on the poor dude. He didnt say he was quittin his day job. Go in the morning . If you wanna hit Borgata you can back count the 15 mins there. I see alot of ten minimums but they will tend to get more attention from the imbeciles you will be surrounded by, especially as the morning progresses. As mentioned, the game and penetration are weak and you cant expect to win much. However you may very well win a good bit.
Keep in mind there is an additional blackjack pit in the rear near the noodle bar. This noodle bar is where you should chow IMO. You won't feel like a douche eating alone at the bar- the food is consistently delicious. If you are feeling particularly glutenous you could feast on a double Fatburger which must be topped with egg, bacon, and a ladel of chili. These can be found in the basement food court near the poker room.
You do have the option to play the single $5 table they have available near the noodle bar that is open 24-7. You may need to wait for a seat. Spread 5-50 with piss breaks and you have yourself a relaxing practice session.
If you seriously are looking for the best game you can find it would be the game with the best penetration regardless of soft 17 rules and this you would need to search the casinos for. Good luck to ya.

I'm headed to AC on Thursday 3/10 through Sunday . maybe we can synch.. would be nice to play with someone who doesn't do crazy things at the table.

Lost my arse at Winstar for the last 3 days in OK.. btw, a 50cent/1dollar betting ante is ridiculoous!

First class advice my friends , appreciate all of it, might well split the trip down the middle between FW and AC. Will be hitting FW for sure on the way down hopefully add to my roll. When in AC how do I find out the number of decks in play, is it posted at the tables?

all the best to you all

It is not usually posted. If you can't tell by looking at the shoe, look for a lady dealer with small hands and see how much trouble she has loading and unloading the ASM and handling the cards during the cut.

When in Doubt...

If searching for a dealer with small hands or asking the dealer doesn't work out, learn to judge it for yourself. Get yourself 8 decks of used casino cards and teach yourself the difference between the size of a 6-deck and 8-deck stack.

Always have a Plan C ;)

Of course. My post was kind of tongue in cheek. I find it amusing to watch a dealer with small hands trying to handle 8 decks.

To compute your True Count you need to determine how many decks are "unseen".

If you cannot instantly determine the number of decks in play you are NOT ready to play in a casino.

I do not want to be harsh, but the truth will save you a lot of money.

It's one to not be able to estimate whether there's 4.5 or 5 decks in the discard, but if you can't figure out if it's 6 or 8 decks (8 decks is an entire 33% more then 6...), you shouldn't be playing.

And if all you're doing is counting, go to foxwoods and stay there. Why would you want to go to AC for a bunch of crappy H17 games, no LS, when you can play at a place that's S17 with LS?

If your max bet is 30 bucks there's no need to worry about heat either. Foxwoods is not calling a skills check on someone with a max bet of 30 bucks. Do yourself a favor and don't leave one of the finest games in the east to count in AC.

If I would open my eyes and pay more attention, I would have noticed your cheek bulging!
