note: i haven't played much after the big drop lol.
it was where i upsized my bet spread. (take note bjavenger! lol )
i've been like a deer in headlights ever since the drop.
oh and it's not representative of total orthodox card counting play.
upon retrospective examination of just what it was i really did over all those sessions i came to realize i screwed around quite a bit more than i realized.like steaming or like for instance there's even a little slot machine blackjack game play in there. lol
live and learn lol. really a hodge podge of so much differant stuff i've done. begining learning to count. various count methods of ace/ten front count, ko, hi/lo and fuzzy counting. various games, lsr, no lsr, eight decks, six decks and finally a two deck. playing just one hand or maybe spreading to two, various penetration levels, wonging in or maybe wonging out and maybe play all. various bet spreads and playing to various simulators and simulations. having stop win limits, having goals. just playing BS. all sorts of stuff that makes it virtually impossible to understand really what went on.
it's not representative of really a lot of money just bankroll growth.

When you say "upsized your bet spread", what did you do exactly? If you doubled your bets then yeah your variance dare I say doubles:eyepatch::whip:

Did you scale your bets back to the original level or are you still "upsized"?

To someone who wants to "upsize their bets" I would recommend doing it gradually.
Ex.
going from .5 kelly to .6 kelly
or
just having the same ror but a larger bank will entail larger bets (10% ror with $10,000 to $20,000 is the same ror but would entail larger bets for the larger bankroll.
or
If one resizes then just hold off on resizing downwards, if you take a mild negative swing you would be playing at the same basic stakes.

Under all examples you are increasing your stakes gradually so initial negative variance does not make any froggie jumpy.

I would be hesitant to recommend someone just double their stakes overnight even if they mainatain a low ror. There is something to be said for consistency over time when considering the long run of bj.

I'm probably one of the least frequent gamblers here - I usually only make one gambling trip a year, and I'll get in about 10-15 hours of advantage blackjack. I estimate I've played about 4,500 hands (counting cards), and I've won about 100 units. (my unit size has changed over time so units is the best way to express this)

I believe that my results (+0.02 units/hand) are atypically high - based on some simulations, I should only be winning 0.01 units/hand, and I usually give up about half of that in tips, so my EV should be 0.005. I think Sonny calculated that I would need to play 90,000 hands (~100 years at the rate I'm playing) before I could be sure I was playing with an advantage. :grin:

After four years counting cards, I'm down 200 units. On the bright side, I was down 700 units at the beginning of this year.

I noticed that two or three southern Cali casinos were really draining my bankroll. Quit playing at those casinos, problem resolved (I hope).

ive got such a small sample of my own data, and the learning curve involved with counting, i cannot consider my data to be anything else but luck or variance.

If you want bankroll preservation then cut your bets back at some conventient point if your bankroll drops and don't raise your bets on bankroll growth for a while. Also, actually apply some of the knowledge you do have.:joker::whip:

well thats what i did instead. i hopped away just because of some negative variance. wrong reason i guess. just i can't emotionally handle that big of a swing at once. it's hard to teach an old frog new tricks.

No, not in the short term. You can't guarantee a winning session, or month, or even year. If you play well enough, for long enough, you should come out ahead, though.
