Last night I reported to security a nut sitting at a slot machine punching himself in the face after each pull. They told me "He's allowed." What a bunch of a-holes, allowing that just because he's a profitable player from the perspective of the casino.

I tend to hit myself when messing up at something. Obviously slots don't involve skill, but I understand the desire to hit yourself.


If he's not hurting anyone else, why would they remove him from the casino? He will just find somewhere else to lose and punch himself. Might as well make money from him if he will punch himself no matter what. Heartless? Maybe. True, yeah.

I would think that this has to be bad for business. It is my presumption that the slots in his immediate area were barren because nobody wanted to play near the creepjob. This kind of patron makes for a weird playing environment.

It also might have the effect of pushing the marginal customer away to the competition.

Marginal Customer: "I don't want to go to casino A, for there are creepjobs there that punch themselves in the face while they play."

walk down the strip any night, and you'll see people doing crazier things than that. If they sent him outside, he may pound his head against a brick wall. Got to be half nuts to play the slots anyway.

And it reminds me of a similar situation that happened to ME once. I was playing BJ and correctly stood on 16 vs. a dealer's 10. The guy right after me ALSO had 16 & stood. When the dealer turned over a 6 & hit it with a 5, the guy comes unglued: "Why on Earth did you stand on 16? The dealer had a TEN up!" I quietly replied: "But YOU stood on 16 also." His response: "It's different. I know what I'm doing!" :laugh:

Well they may be wrong in that situation about themselves knowing what they are doing and the other person also doing it is somehow not doing it right.


However, I've seen people stupid their way into the correct play in poker more times than my rage threshold can handle. Someone who limps with every hand they are dealt, I raise them with a good hand, they just call again. They check the flop, I bet, they call (I have an overpair to the board). I bet again when checked to, they call. At this point I am certain that I have the best hand because they do this nearly every single hand. They check it to me again, I shove, they call and show pocket kings.

They always play every hand like this, but their insane stupidity actually tricked me into thinking that I had the best hand when I shoved.
