Well, my story doesn't involve actual blackjack play, but just plain asshattery from another player.

This guy's betting black at a $5 minimum table, frequently the table max and frequently losing. Turns out he won a lot of $$ in a slot jackpot and is apparently determined to lose it all at the tables before he leaves. The casino is happy to accommodate this. He's telling other people how to play, complaining when they don't follow his advice and generally being an ass, but he's leaving me alone because I'm playing BS like he is and apparently he thinks I'm doing it right. Then he starts bumming cigarettes from me. I don't mind this most of the time, as long as someone doesn't keep hitting me up. I've had people toss me a $1 chip for a single cigarette. Most people at least offer to buy a cigarette or two - this guy doesn't even offer.

Then he starts in on me. Since he can't knock the way I play, he's decided to make fun of my betting. I ignore him because I've already determined that he's an a-hole. With the kind of nerve only asshats seem to have, he then asks if he can have another cigarette - this would be his third. I looked at him and said Jack, you've been making fun of the way I bet for the past half hour - take one of those black chips and use it to buy your own cigarettes.

I thought it was very ladylike of me not to drop the f-bomb on him.

I wish I was as level headed as you. If someone bugged me I would just unleash hell on them. Maybe more time will fix that.

I had a guy tell me you're not supposed to hit a 12 against a 2... I say well actually your supposed to hit a 12 against a 2 and 3. He says I don't think so. I say when's the last time you looked at a bs strategy chart? Lol he's like I don't have to I'm an engineer. Soo I just end it there. About 30 min later I have a lady tell me I'm not supposed to split 4s against a dealer 6. Thinking to myself what a bunch of idiots. Another thing the first guy was telling me that my insurance calls were sucker bets. I say no its not sarcasticly. Its soo funny how people think they know basic strategy and they aren't even close.

Very disappointed in the engineer.

Anyways all the above is the reason why I want to get some players and take over a table; even if they only know BS.

Calgary > ploppys bug the **** out of me . One guy asked me where did I learn to play BJ , hitting A7 against a 10 claiming he has been playing for 20 years & never seen such a thing. I just looked at him & said ,go f yourself . To beat it all ,he accused me of taking the dealer's break card when the dealer had another 10 (Pat 20) OH! The table got very quite. Ok , I will go a little further > I overheard him say that dumb ass guy at the end just hit a 18 . That is what started the fight. LOL Not a real fight.

While playing in Germany this week, I think the lady next to me was trying to tell me how to play--I just didn't understand any of it!! Finally, I replied, "spreche english?" and never heard another word!
next time tell her "essen mein fleisch".

I was in a rather adversarial position with a couple ploppies. At this store, dealers keep their own, and the dealer was a pain in the arse so I wasn't tipping.

Ploppy, an ex dealer, who used to work with dealer at different store as a dealer himself, throws me a red chip and tells me to place it outside my circle, along with some patronizing drivel assuming I am unfamiliar with tipping etiquette. I respond "Thanks, buddy!" and pocket it.

He was about to blow a gasket! She stopped frequently to engage this guy in conversation, being as how they were ex-coworkers and all. So then I decided to tell him "I don't tip dealers who slow down the game so much"

That said I am an average tipper. Whenever I get ploppy or heaven forbid, dealer heat if I am not tipping at that moment in time, if it's a place (like this store) that I could live without, it can get ugly fast.

Are you [publicly] admitting to the (de facto) theft of a red chip ?
He slid it over to me! Just like if someone wants to scavange your split or double, you are legally allowed to take all of their money, despite it making you an asshole! :)

You said that he said " ... throws me a red chip and tells me to place it outside my circle ..."

He indicated that it was a toke-bet placed on your spot, or at least that is what I made of your post.

At this point I would have said:

"Well Mr. Engineer, your choo-choo is leaving."

This happened the other night. A ploppy sits next to me and tells me he was up $350 and gave it all back. He still had a rather large stack of chips. He then proceeds to bust out his hands against dealer stiffs, splits 6's against a dealer ten and then doubled 9 against a dealer 10. This last one should have made him feel pretty silly since he drew a 2 and a 10 was the next card coming. It also infuriated everyone at the table. I was at 3rd base and busted my 14 with what would have been his 10. The dealer turns over a 4 and then hits it with a 7 for 21. The rest of the table was ready to have the guy lynched. I simply told him it wasn't a very smart play, to which he responded:

"Oh yeah, well I'm used to playing with better players at the table than you."

I merely laughed. If that were the case you'd think something would have rubbed off. A while later he left the table chipless. A while after that I left the table up over a grand. I was hoping I could find him to rub his face in it, but he was nowhere to be found.

That doesn't matter, he physically gave me the chip, therefore it is mine. At this point he can merely suggest that I place it as a bet for the dealer.

Flash, if I gave you a $10 bill and proceeded to tell you to give it to a panhandler, would you feel any obligation to do so?

not an AP move to publicly discuss AP strategies - even if it is as small as rounds/hr

I hope this was a joke, ow, what if this disgruntled ploppy decides to follow you and rub your face in his 9m and take ALL your money?

OMFG. Yeah, I am ruining blackjack for all AP's by sending a dealer the message that I hate playing at a blackjack table where the dealer does more yapping than dealing.

Because no ploppy has ever complained about the game being slowed.

Seriously, what were you thinking when you made that comment? It makes no sense. I wasn't wearing a shirt that said "card counter" first of all so it wasn't like I was sending the message that fast play is good for the AP.

Secondly, no casino, even with this knowledge, would shoot their profits in the foot by instructing all their dealers to slow the game to a crawl.

So please enlighten me, how did I jeopardize the future of blackjack as we know it by suggesting I was annoyed at extremely slow play?

I don't think I'd be made for wanting to play blackjack instead of listening to chatter. Casino management probably agrees with me actually.

But I'd be better behaved there anyway if I valued my longevity there.
