Using the colors/suits for different values.

Is it possible, to use a multi-level count, by tagging a few 'specific' Key cards different values, based on their color? For example, if I wanted the FIVES to be tagged as 1.5, couldnt, I simply tag Red 5s as +1 and Black 5s as +2 for an Average of 1.5?

Or better yet; off tagging a paticular suit, so 1/4 fractions could be used. i.e +1.75 or +1.25

All comments appreciated.

I don't see why not.

Look at the Red Seven count for example. There is also a Red Seven variant, where every 7 is counted as .5, to achieve the same effect. It just depends on the counter's preference. I believe it's ever so slightly more accurate to count the 7 as .5, but I don't think a counter is giving up much by only counting red 7 as 1. I have to assume the counter is giving up more with fewer decks.

Sooo... do you think, if you were to ignore the black 7s and tag the red ones @+1 it would be the same as tagging all 7s @+.5?

Im curious because, if using Ao2 for example, you could ignore a few cards, to make it stronger.

1122210-1-2(-2+)

Specs

.987(w/ace)
.671
.85

Now if, I could ignore all Red 9s that would give them a weight of -.5

And count all, Red 6s at +1 each, for a avg. weight of +1.5

Which gives me the modified ao2 of

1122(1.5)10(-.5)-2(-2+)

New specs:

.99
.68
.89

This technique could work, w/any count, as long as it works. But would it work?

I think im gonna work on something a little stronger, before I start doing this.

Yes, and I am not the only one who thinks like that. It is straight from Snyder's Blackbelt in Blackjack, page 56.

Yes. What makes you so skeptical?

Close, but not exactly the same. Tagging half as +1 is slightly inferior to tagging all as .5.

I thought about recreating the Revere Point Count by only counting red twos and red sevens.

But I thought: if I get, say, four or five red ones before seeing the next black one, my running count will be significantly ahead of where I would have been counting each as .5.

Soon enough I'll get around to running a sim to find out. . .
