If you took the best blackjack player in the world and took the best NL hold 'em poker player in the world and gave them both $400 and challenged them to see who would make the most amount of money in 6 hours playing their respective game in an AC casinos, who do you think would win. Assume for the BJ player that he was playing 6 decks, S17, DAS, DOA, no surrender, 80% penetration

If you had put a card counter against a poker player I would put my money behind the poker player without hesitation. However, if you don’t restrict the BJ player to counting cards then I would bet on the BJ player, no question about it. I’d even bet on the BJ player in a poker game if he was getting some extra information somehow. I’ve never met a poker player who knew how to predict what cards were going to come out of the deck or which cards are in which player's hand, but that’s pretty common for pro BJ players. Put a "tell" reader and a hole carder at the same table and see which one makes the best plays. :p

I’ve had other players make some extremely accurate guesses as to my hole cards, and I’m still playing at the beginner tables!

Yes, the strong poker players are surprisingly good at estimating another player’s hand based on their first few moves. However, compare that to a player who physically sees his opponent’s card(s) as they are dealt. It’s a huge advantage…unless the poker player knows when he is being read, in which case he would have a big advantage. It all depends on who has the most information.

I was wording a response akin to what Sonny said, but the master has said it best. I think the 'world's best' player in BJ will be able to find a dealer within 6 hours in AC that will give him/her hole card knowledge, but then I begin to wonder if the world's best poker player will also find a dealer that provides knowledge of all player hole cards, and I suspect such dealers/players exist. (at least to the extent Sonny likened) A true AP will gravitate to the most profitable game and adapt to it, whatever it is. If the intent of the original question is to decide if your hobby gambling should be spent grinding 1.5units / hr counting blackjack or grinding 3BB/hr playing live 2-5NL games, go with the poker. I think the best AP's could make a great deal more at either game, or maybe they're next-carding baccarat for $10k a hand... or using some technique no one else has come up with.

One very big problem with your hypothetical- $400 is not enough BR to to play BJ in AC, or really anywhere. It might get you a little further at a low limit poker game.

Raise the BR to $250K, and the BJ player will be making more money. The reason why is that at high stakes making money at poker is tougher simply because there are skilled players at those tables, while at the same time as table limits increase BJ games tend to get better and heat is the only problem.
 
$400 should be enough for a 6 hour duration for the best bj player in the world to make the risk of ruin not so high assuming you're at a $5 table. Granted $10 would really be pushing it. But if you're the world's best poker player, $400 is plenty for a $1/$2 nl game.
