Call this, Playing my hand is hard enough, I can not play yours also.
I am sitting at a high limit table with two other players playing a shoe game. The count is in the max bet range and I am at first base. I have A,7 vs dealer 6 and double my bet and luckily draw a perfect 3. Middle guy has 2,3 takes a hit and gets a face and stays, third base also has A,7 but stays. The dealer turns 16, hits a 3, takes both guys money and I get paid double.
Third base now has something to say to me to the effect that if I was not greedy and doubled then the dealer would have hit the face that the middle guy got and we all would have won.
I say something to the effect, "I would have won half as much and considering that yes I am greedy and playing my hand is hard enough, I can not play your hand also and obviously to me you played yours wrong as you would have had 21 if you doubled also and since I got a king on my first card the dealer would have busted." As I finish saying this my second card, a max bet ace for blackjack falls on my king and third base pounds the table in anger. Still making oodles of friends at the casino.
Again, one of the great myths of blackjack, you know, the one about it being a team against the dealer is proven wrong.
