Yesterday, I'm backcounting a table. Ploppy has a 13, dealer has a 9 showing. What does ploppy do? He doubles.

What does ploppy pull? Yup, an 8!

Was the player a nervous, twitchy player? Perhaps he knew what he was doing. ;)

Although you’re probably right. About 99.999% of the time people do stuff like that because they’re stupid.

This one is pretty dumb too. The dealer gets an ace and calls for insurance, I have a 20 and the ploppy next to me has a stiff and we both have the same dollar amount bet. The count does not call for insurance and the ploppy next to me asks if he can insure my hand, so I let him. Then I ask him aren't you going to insure your hand as well and he says "No, I've got a lousy hand I only insure a good hands". Well the dealer had the blackjack so I had to tell the ploppy what a genious player he is!

Same thing happened

The guy have two 7's for 14. The dealer has a 10. It is the ENHC game where the dealer hasn't check for BJ.
He doubles, get another 7 for 21, the dealer gets another 10 for 20. All the dealer said was he has never seen anything like that before.
Guys like that are just throwing money at the casino and they couldn't have better patrons than that. Anybody has any idea what the house advantage is on a play like this.

2 dumb plays!

Once I had a player stay on 2 Ace's and another player stay on Ace-5! The game was dealt down so I didn't know what they had until after I finished my hand!

I saw a lady stand on A,5. She said it was because she was born on the 16th. It nearly started a riot at the table.
I was born on the 21st, using that logic...I should stand on 21 :)

Actually, it's tomorrow...so it's time to go out. :flame:

good luck

Dumb Things i have seen

A Dealer once told me a story about a guy who doubled down a HARD 20. he got 30 and then tried to say he wanted to spilt, but the eye in the sky clearly saw him put one finger in the air. and the pit boss was standing there when he said he wanted to double down. Apprently the gaming board got involved in this dispute and everything.

But one of the more dumb things i have ever heard a ploppy say was
" I always stand when a dealer has an 8 up, just in case he has another 8"..ok then using that logic why wouldnt you stand when he has a 7 just in case he has a 9..LOL...

Yea the dealer always has junk under a RED 8 didn't you know that?

On another note, does anyone know what ploppies logic is when they full double down on HARD 12 v 5 or 6? The only thing i can think of is that they are assuming that the dealer has 15 or 16 and that the odd of the dealer busting on 15,16 is higher than the odds of them busting on 12, so therefore it must be a good play. hahaha i dunno

I sat at a $25 table last week where a guy split 4s against a 10. That rates pretty high on my personal "dumb-ometer".
thats not even THAT bad. I saw a guy split 10s three times against a 10. He got 17, 19, 19 and the dealer flipped over another 10 for 20. I almost died from laughing so hard.

A couple of weeks ago I played with a guy who split 10s on FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I think he lost every time with his green chip bets. Sadly he lost all his money and then came back with $100 bets trying to win it back. Of course he failed.

Some dumb plays I've seen...

Two dumb plays that worked out well:

A guy insisted on hitting his soft 20, and got an ace.
A guy surrendered his 11 vs. 6, and it turned out to be the correct thing to do that time.
And one with an entirely predictable result:

Somebody split 5s, and then went 15 & bust on each hand.

Once while playing a juicy promo on a SP21 table I witnessed a ploppy who would double down on every single hand. He would then redouble on the hand again if he hadn't busted. I would watch him double a hard twelve then catch a 7 and double again. He did this for a couple of hours and would go ape s**t every time he miracled into a 21. FWIW the promo did not have anything to do with making stupid doubling decisions. The guy was simply an idiot.
