"Revealing Vegas" on the Travel Channel

I saw an episode of "Only in America" last night with Larry the Cable Guy where he visits the Eye in the Sky room of a casino in Las Vegas. Throughout the segment "Card counters" and "post betters" are mentioned in basically the breath as cheaters, scumbags and those to be caught. OF course...

Do you move to another table?

I took insurance three out of four hands once at a high count. One other ploppy had JUST sat down at the table at the beginning of those four hands. Of course he lost the three bets with dealer's Ace up. He was pissed. He left. :) The dealer looks at me, looks at the cards, looks at the shoe...

    Newbie question

Thank god for ploppy voodoo known as "changing the flow of the cards." Yeah, I'm changing the flow alright. To a positive count...shhhhh...;)

    First time splitting 10's

Ploppy-like excitement is good cover in itself, imo.

    First time splitting 10's

At the place I regular, on my first trip I mentioned to a kindly dealer how I liked to play alone. But it's a shoe game (and a great one), so that is rare. After several bone-headed ploppy plays, I told her, "I'm going to have to start splitting 10s to get play alone." The chatty-kathy...

    Update on first real effort...

I have to agree to a certain extent. All it does is make you associate values with the cards at a glance. During real play you should be cancelling out groupings of cards, only having a need to count the "left overs."

Does this have the same house edge as a regular game?

Sounds like a normal game. Not checking for BJ prior to Players playing their hands and then the player not losing double downs or splits on a dealer BJ is the same game.

    Another luck thread!

I'd be the a-hole of the table. I'd either point to the dealer and say that's what he/she gets paid for. Or nicely say, for a 25% commission that I'd be glad to do it. I don't care too much if other players at the table think I'm an a-hole. The fewer players at my table means the happier I...

    the "Friend issue"

The above kind of wisdom can only be obtained naturally by spending many hours in the casino. And it is probably difficult to do naturally without having spent many hours in the casino as a ploppy yourself. It's one of my greatest "covers." Years ago I was a ploppy. Then I had about 6 years not...

    Heat at DD

I made four out of five insurance calls correctly within a 7 minute span. Count was high. Two players. Dealer was fast. Ther other guy at the table was pissed, cause he lost all the hands. The dealer (who I hadn't played with all weekend) asked, "Can you see the cards?" I laughed it off saying...

Casino industry getting vote out for Reid

Casino bosses are somehow scared that a liberty-minded Tea Party member is bad for business? I don't understand how a pro-business person who has not taken an anti-gambling stance is bad for business...

    Wow. Cover?

But he did he get anything from the Tribal women that he got to keep?

    Louisiana games deteriorating

You didn't play the 6/5 did you?

Counting is harder than people think

The variance for carnvial games is much greater than BJ, yet they entertain a fraction of the players.
