Should you play it?

A plain single zero table. On the standard payouts every bet costs 2.70%; at the French tables La Partage halves that on even money bets, which makes red or black there the cheapest bet on the table.

Play it if

  • You want a live dealer and a single zero wheel
  • You like placing Voisins, Orphelins or Tiers in one go
  • You bet red or black; French tables give half back on zero

Variance profile

Medium. Your bet sets the swing: a single number wins about once in 37 spins and pays 35 to 1, while red or black wins almost half the time at even money. Both cost 2.70% over time on the standard payouts.

How Live Roulette works

Iconic21’s dealer roulette

Live Roulette is Iconic21’s dealer roulette on a single zero wheel: 37 pockets, the numbers 1 to 36 and one green zero. It comes in European and French layouts, with a switch between a modern and a classic racetrack, extra statistics and a heatmap of where other players are betting. A spin counts only if the ball makes three full turns of the wheel; otherwise the dealer spins it again.

Bets and what they cost

The layout carries the usual inside bets, from single numbers, splits, streets and corners to the first four and lines of six, and outside bets on columns, dozens, red or black, odd or even and 1 to 18 or 19 to 36. Zero is not covered by any outside bet. On the standard single zero payouts, from 35 to 1 on a single number to even money on red or black, every bet costs 2.70%. At the French tables an even money bet that loses to zero returns half the stake, La Partage, which cuts the cost of those bets to 1.35%.

Racetrack and call bets

The racetrack lays the numbers out in wheel order. A neighbor bet covers a number plus up to nine numbers on each side, and the call bets come ready made: Tiers du Cylindre (6 chips over 12 numbers), Voisins du Zero (9 chips over 17 numbers), Orphelins (5 chips over 8 numbers) and Jeu Zero (4 chips over 7 numbers). Favorite Bets saves your own combinations, and the special bets add finales and complete bets. Each is made of ordinary bets, so the price per chip does not change.

The math behind Live Roulette

The wheel has 37 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36 and a single zero. The figures below are rules derived: they use the standard payouts for this wheel, from 35 to 1 on a single number to even money on red or black, and work out the house edge exactly from the payouts and the pockets.

Try it: place your bets

Tap a number for a straight up bet, a line between two numbers for a split, a corner for four numbers, or the edge next to the dozens for a street or six line. Add as many bets as you like.

The green pocket is not red, black, odd, even, high or low, so every outside bet loses when it lands. That is where the house edge comes from.

"A fair price" is the payout that would make a bet break even over time: the pockets it loses on for each pocket it wins on. Every payout here is below it. These are worked out exactly from the payouts and the 37 pockets.

    One zero or two

    This table

    Single zero, 37 pockets

    2.70% house edge

One green pocket out of 37. $1 on red for 100 spins costs about $2.70 on average.

    Double zero, 38 pockets

    5.26% house edge

Two green pockets out of 38, almost double the cost: about $5.26 per 100 spins of $1 on red. The five number bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3) costs even more, 7.89%.

    Same game, different presentation

Iconic21's Live Roulette deals the standard single zero game with a dealer at the wheel. Every bet returns 97.30%, so no bet is cheaper than another: a 35 to 1 straight up and an even money red are priced the same, they just win at very different rates.

Studio source: Iconic21 Live Roulette page, checked November 6, 2026. Check the payouts in your casino's game help: if they differ from the standard payouts above, these figures do not apply.

Is there a Live Roulette strategy?

No. On the standard payouts every bet costs 2.70%, and nothing you do at the layout changes the 1 in 37 chance of any pocket.

The heatmap shows other players, not the wheel

It shows where other players have put their chips this round. The ball does not know, and every number is still 1 in 37.

    Call bets are bundles

Voisins, Orphelins, Tiers and Jeu Zero are groups of ordinary bets. They spread your stake over a sector of the wheel at the same price per chip.

    What you can control

    Look for the French table

If you bet red or black, La Partage at the French tables gives half your stake back on zero, a 1.35% edge instead of 2.70%.

    Size your session

At 2.70% a spin, $10 a round costs about 27 cents on average. Set a money and time limit before you start.
