Should you play it?

This is the honest baseline of Pragmatic's roulette range. Every bet returns 97.30%, a 2.70% house edge, and there is no multiplier or side game changing the payouts. Pick it when you want ordinary roulette at a live table.

Play it if

  • You want the standard 35 to 1 straight up payout
  • You like a dealer and a quiet table more than a game show
  • You want every bet priced the same

Variance profile

Medium. Outside bets win close to half the time and move slowly. Straight up bets win once in 37 spins on average and swing much more, but cost the same over time.

How Roulette works

1 Inside or outside

Place your bets

Choose numbers, splits, streets, dozens, columns or even money bets on the layout, or use the racetrack for sector bets such as Voisins du Zero.

2 37 pockets

The dealer spins

When betting closes the dealer launches the ball into a single zero wheel with the numbers 0 to 36.

3 35:1

The ball decides

A straight up win pays 35 to 1 and red or black pays 1 to 1. Every bet carries the single zero edge of 2.70%.

The standard game

Pragmatic Play’s Roulette is the classic European game, streamed from its live studios with a dealer at the wheel. The layout has every standard bet: straight up, split, street, corner and six line inside, and columns, dozens, red or black, odd or even and low or high outside. A racetrack covers the French sector bets, Voisins du Zero, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins and the Zero Game, along with neighbor bets, and special bets such as Finales en Plein and Full Complete place several chips at once.

VIP and native language tables

The same game runs at VIP tables, which Pragmatic describes as having longer betting time, 20 seconds, and a premium studio feel, and at tables hosted in other languages. The wheel and the paytable stay the same at all of them, so a VIP table changes the experience and the limits your casino sets, not the odds.

What it costs

Pragmatic’s game rules give a theoretical return of 97.30% for Roulette. That is the price of the single green zero: a straight up win pays 35 to 1 where a fair price would be 36 to 1, and every bet on the layout carries the same 2.70% edge. No bet is cheaper than another, and no betting pattern changes it.

The math behind Roulette

The wheel has 37 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36 and a single zero. The game's rules list every bet and its payout, and what each bet pays back over time. Every figure below comes from those numbers.

Try it: place your bets

Tap a number for a straight up bet, a line between two numbers for a split, a corner for four numbers, or the edge next to the dozens for a street or six line. Add as many bets as you like.

The green pocket is not red, black, odd, even, high or low, so every outside bet loses when it lands. That is where the house edge comes from.

    One zero or two

    This table

    Single zero, 37 pockets

    2.70% house edge

One green pocket out of 37. $1 on red for 100 spins costs about $2.70 on average.

    Double zero, 38 pockets

    5.26% house edge

Two green pockets out of 38, almost double the cost: about $5.26 per 100 spins of $1 on red. The five number bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3) costs even more, 7.89%.

    Same game, different presentation

Pragmatic's Roulette deals the ordinary single zero game with a live dealer, with no multipliers, side games or changed payouts. Every bet returns 97.30%, so no bet is cheaper than another: a 35 to 1 straight up and an even money red are priced the same, they just win at very different rates.

    Is there a Roulette strategy?

No. Every bet on the layout returns 97.30%, the wheel has no memory, and no way of combining or sizing bets moves that figure.

The zero is the whole edge

A straight up win pays 35 to 1 against true odds of 36 to 1. That one pocket gap, 1 in 37, is the 2.70% house edge, and it applies to every bet.

The statistics board shows the past

Hot and cold numbers record what has happened. Each spin is independent, so a cold number is no more likely to come up next.

    What you can control

    Pick your ride

Outside bets win often for small amounts; straight up bets win rarely for 35 times the stake. The cost over time is the same, so choose the pattern your budget can stand.
