A larger payout is not a better return by itself. The cost depends on how often that bet wins and on every commission, reduced payout and fee that applies.

Is there a Big Small Baccarat strategy?

Not one that beats the house edge. Banker at 1.06% is still the cheapest bet. The six Big and Small bets cost between 4.94% and 7.07%.

Four, five or six cards

A round uses 4 cards in 37.89% of rounds, 5 in 30.34% and 6 in 31.77%. Small bets need 4 cards, Big bets 5 or 6, and both also need the right result.

The draw is fixed

Whether a third card comes out depends only on the opening totals, so nothing you do changes how many cards are dealt.

Small pays more because it is rarer

Small Player and Small Banker win in 17.16% of rounds and pay 4.5 to 1. Big Player and Big Banker win far more often at 2.45 and 2.3 to 1. Both cost more than the main bets.

How Big Small Baccarat works

1 Banker 0.95 to 1

Place your bets

Bet on Player or Banker, then add any of the six Big and Small bets. The side bets need a main bet first.

2 4 to 6 cards

The hands are dealt

Four cards are dealt and the third card rule decides whether a fifth or sixth card is needed.

3 Up to 25 to 1

Result and card count

Small bets win when their result comes with 4 cards dealt; Big bets win when it comes with 5 or 6.

Two questions each hand

Big Small Baccarat deals Pragmatic’s ordinary eight deck game with Player paying 1 to 1 and Banker 0.95 to 1. There is no Tie bet; a Tie returns Player and Banker bets. Six side bets ask two things at once: who wins, and how many cards the round took. Small means only the four opening cards were dealt; Big means a fifth or sixth card came out.

The six side bets

Big Player pays 2.45 to 1 and Small Player 4.5 to 1 when Player wins. Big Banker pays 2.3 to 1 and Small Banker 4.5 to 1 when Banker wins. Big Tie pays 15 to 1 and Small Tie 25 to 1 when the round ties. Each loses if its result or its card count does not come up.

What they cost

Worked out exactly for a fresh eight deck shoe, the six bets cost between 4.94% and 7.07% of each stake, several times the Banker edge of 1.06%.
