Good rules with a European edge

Eight decks, dealer stands on all 17s, blackjack pays 3:2, double on any two cards and after splits. The defining rule is what does not happen: the dealer takes no second card until every player has acted, and there is no blackjack check at all. When the dealer’s Ace or ten turns into a blackjack, doubled and split money is lost with the original bet.

That one rule moves several decisions: 11 against a ten becomes a hit rather than a double, pairs stop splitting into ten and Ace, and Ace-Ace against an Ace is played, not split. What does no dealer blackjack check mean?

The dealer’s second card arrives only after all players have acted, and nobody checks for blackjack beforehand. If the dealer then makes blackjack, your doubles and splits lose along with the original bet.

How should my play change because of it?

Be conservative with extra money against a dealer Ace or ten: no doubling 11 into a ten, no splitting into those cards. The chart above already reflects the correct no-peek plays.
