Should you play it?

A plain eight deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17 and you can double any two cards, also after a split. The catch is the hole card: the dealer checks it only with an Ace up, so a dealer blackjack under a 10 takes your doubles and splits as well.

How Classic Blackjack works

Iconic21’s seven seat game

Classic Blackjack is Iconic21’s standard live blackjack for seven seated players, dealt at tables such as Oasis Blackjack, Oasis VIP Blackjack, VIP Blackjack and Manhattan Blackjack. They share one set of rules and differ in setting and limits. Oasis Blackjack is dealt in the Oasis studio, built for a calm and warm atmosphere; Oasis VIP Blackjack is the high stakes table in the same studio, with personal presenters; VIP Blackjack keeps the standard game with higher limits; and Manhattan Blackjack is dealt against a night time Manhattan skyline. When all seven seats are taken you can Bet Behind a seated player.

The rules

Eight decks, and the dealer stands on all 17s, soft 17 included. Blackjack pays 3:2, other wins pay even money, and insurance costs half your bet and pays 2:1. You can double on any first two cards for one more card, also after a split. You split once, split Aces get one card each, and an Ace and a ten after a split counts as 21, not blackjack. There is no surrender. The dealer checks the hole card only with an Ace up. With a 10 up, a dealer blackjack shows after everyone has acted and takes every bet except a player blackjack, so a double or split against a 10 puts the extra money at risk too. Ten cards without busting win automatically, and if you run out of time the game hits 11 or less and stands on 12 or more.

Side bets and extras

Two side bets sit beside the main game: Pairs, which pays on a suited, colored or mixed pair in your first two cards, and Poker 3, which pays when your two cards and the dealer’s up card make a flush, straight, three of a kind, straight flush or suited trips. Some tables let you double face down, with the extra card kept hidden until the dealer finishes.
