Should you play it?

A classic eight deck game with a seat for everyone and one extra button. Take Deal swaps your hand for a sure amount; it is worth pressing only when the offer beats what the hand is likely to win, and the chart below shows how to play every hand you keep.

Play it if

  • You like the option to lock in a win mid hand
  • You never want to wait for a seat
  • You like a dealer who stands on soft 17

Variance profile

Low. Taking deals smooths your results by swapping uncertain hands for fixed amounts; played without them it swings like any classic table.

Basic strategy for this table

Worked out for these rules: 8 decks, dealer stands on soft 17, double on any two cards, double after split, one split with one card to each split Ace, no surrender, and the dealer checks for blackjack only with an Ace up, so a dealer blackjack under a 10 found after you act takes every bet except a player blackjack.

How Take Deal or Risk Blackjack works

1 Your turn

See the offer

During decision time Take Deal sits beside Hit, Stand, Double and Split, with a cash amount for your hand.

2 Follows the cards

The offer moves

The amount changes with your cards against the dealer's, so each offer is for the hand you hold at that moment.

3 Take it or play on

Cash out or risk it

Take the deal and the amount is paid at the end of the round, whatever the dealer draws. It covers the main bet only, and after a split each hand gets its own offer.

Blackjack with a cash out

Take Deal or Risk Blackjack is Iconic21’s unlimited seat blackjack with one extra choice. During your turn, alongside Hit, Stand, Double and Split, you get a Take Deal offer: a cash amount for your hand that follows your cards against the dealer’s. Take it and you stop playing the hand and collect that amount at the end of the round; refuse it and you play on as normal. The offer covers your main bet only, and after a split each hand gets its own.

The rules

Eight decks, and the dealer stands on all 17s, soft 17 included. Blackjack pays 3:2, other wins pay even money, and an Ace and a ten after a split counts as 21 and pays 1:1. Insurance costs half your bet and pays 2:1. Double on any first two cards, also after a split; split once, with one card to each split Ace; no surrender. The dealer checks the hole card only with an Ace up. With a 10 up, a dealer blackjack shows after everyone has acted and takes every bet except a player blackjack, doubles and splits included. Ten cards without busting win automatically.

Side bets

Pairs pays on a suited, colored or mixed pair in your first two cards, and Poker 3 pays when your two cards and the dealer’s up card make a poker hand from a flush up to suited trips.
