American rules, for better and worse

The shoe is six decks rather than eight, and the dealer takes a hole card and checks for blackjack with an Ace or ten showing, so your doubles and splits are never mugged by a dealer blackjack. Against that, the dealer hits soft 17, which returns roughly two tenths of a percent to the house. Double on any two cards and after splits, one split per hand, no surrender.
