Venmo Casinos

Venmo works at the casinos below through MatchPay. You buy account credits from another player and pay them in Venmo, so the money moves between two people rather than to the casino. How the MatchPay trade works.

Can you pay an online casino with Venmo?

Not directly. No casino we list has a Venmo button in its cashier, and Venmo's own rules explain why. Its user agreement applies PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy, which only allows payments for casino games, sports betting and other gambling when the operator has PayPal's prior approval and the operator and its customers are all in places where that gambling is legal. The offshore casinos that take US players do not have that approval. The agreement also carries an unlawful internet gambling notice that bars restricted gambling transactions from Venmo accounts.

Two routes still connect Venmo to a casino, and the second reaches far more casinos than the first.

Route 1: a MatchPay trade at the four casinos above

MatchPay is a trading platform inside the cashier at Bovada, Ignition, Cafe Casino and Slots.lv. You buy account credits from a player who is cashing out and pay that player in Venmo. Each of the four casinos names Venmo in its help center as a MatchPay app, and Venmo is also one of the four apps (with PayPal, Zelle and Cash App) that every one of them names for MatchPay withdrawals, so your winnings can come back the same way.

How to deposit with Venmo through MatchPay

  1. Verify your identity in Venmo first (Me tab, Settings, Identity Verification). Until you do, Venmo caps your payments at $299.99 a week, which rules out most trades.
  2. In the casino cashier, choose Deposit and select MatchPay.
  3. On your first trade, tap Join Now and create a MatchPay ID and password. MatchPay checks your email and phone number, and the ID is permanent.
  4. Create an order for the amount you want and tick Venmo, plus any other app you can pay from. More apps means more players you can be matched with.
  5. MatchPay matches you with a seller and opens a chat. Only use the Venmo details the seller shares in that chat.
  6. Pay the seller in Venmo from your balance, bank or debit card. A payment funded by a credit card costs 3%. Once the seller confirms the money arrived, the credits land in your casino balance.

How to withdraw to Venmo through MatchPay

  1. Choose Withdraw in the cashier and select MatchPay.
  2. Once the casino approves the withdrawal, create an offer for the amount in your MatchPay account.
  3. A player who wants to deposit is matched with you and pays you in Venmo.
  4. Check that the payment is in your Venmo balance before you confirm it in MatchPay. Then the trade closes.

All four casinos publish the same MatchPay withdrawal limits: $10 to $2,000 a trade and two withdrawals a day. Bovada, Cafe Casino and Slots.lv publish the same $10 to $2,000 range for deposits, and a casino may hold you to three MatchPay deposit attempts a day depending on your account. The MatchPay best practices that the casinos reprint give a narrower $20 to $1,000 per trade, so staying inside that range is the safe choice.

The welcome offer may not follow you. Bovada, Cafe Casino and Slots.lv say their welcome bonuses do not apply to MatchPay deposits unless the bonus terms say otherwise. Ignition says MatchPay deposits currently qualify for its welcome bonus, for what may be a limited time.

Pay only the player MatchPay matched you with, inside the trade. Moderators never take part in a trade, so ignore anyone who claims to be one. Bovada's help center warns of scammers posing as staff who ask players to cancel a withdrawal and send money to a particular username. If a trade goes wrong, use Report a Problem in the trade chat rather than disputing the payment with Venmo, which only delays MatchPay's review.

Route 2: buy crypto in Venmo and send it to the casino

Venmo sells Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, and once your identity is verified you can send any of them to an outside wallet address. A casino's crypto deposit address is exactly that. So every casino on our Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum lists can be funded from Venmo, not only the four above.

How to deposit with crypto from Venmo

  1. Verify your identity in Venmo, including your SSN or ITIN. Buying, holding and sending crypto all require it.
  2. Buy the coin: open the Crypto tab, pick the coin and buy. If you send crypto you have only just bought, Venmo may first wait for your original payment to settle, which can take up to seven days.
  3. In the casino cashier, choose the same coin as your deposit method and copy the address it shows for this deposit.
  4. Back in Venmo, open the Crypto tab, pick the coin, tap the transfer arrows, then Send, and paste the casino's address.
  5. Enter the amount. If Venmo offers a choice of network, pick the one the casino's address is on. Venmo shows the network fee before you confirm.
  6. Send. An outside transfer takes from a few minutes to a few hours, and Venmo gives you an estimate. The casino credits you once the network confirms the payment.

Bitcoin is not your only choice, and the coin decides how small a deposit can be and how fast winnings come back.

CoinVenmo minimum sendCasino minimum deposit
Bitcoin (BTC)0.001 BTC0.0001 BTC
Litecoin (LTC)0.01 LTC0.01 LTC
Ethereum (ETH)0.01 ETH0.002 ETH
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)0.01 BCH0.001 BCH

Payout speed is where the coins differ. Once a withdrawal is approved, Cafe Casino and Slots.lv pay any of the four in about 15 minutes. Bovada and Ignition pay Litecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash within an hour, but take up to 24 hours for Bitcoin.

Buying costs extra. Venmo charges 2.2% on purchases from $1 to $74.99, 2% from $75 to $200, 1.8% from $200.01 to $1,000 and 1.5% above that, and the same rates when you sell. The price you are quoted also includes a spread, which the crypto terms behind Venmo put at an estimated 1%. Sending crypto to another Venmo or PayPal account is free, but a send to an outside address carries a network fee, paid in the coin you send.

Venmo limits crypto purchases to $20,000 a week and $50,000 in any 12 months, and crypto transfers to $25,000 a week. Venmo also sells PayPal USD (PYUSD), Solana and Chainlink, but the four casinos above take none of them. Their stablecoin is Tether.

A crypto send cannot be undone. Venmo says crypto sent to the wrong address, the wrong recipient or over an unsupported network is lost, and it cannot cancel or reverse a transfer. Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are different coins with different addresses, so match the coin in Venmo to the coin in the cashier every time.

Getting your winnings back into Venmo

With MatchPay, the withdrawal steps above put dollars straight into your Venmo balance. With crypto, it takes three steps.

  1. In Venmo, open the Crypto tab, pick the coin you will withdraw, tap the transfer arrows and then Receive, and copy the address. Venmo gives you a new address each time you receive. Use a fresh one for every withdrawal: Bovada says an address entered in its cashier cannot be used again.
  2. In the casino cashier, request a withdrawal in that same coin to that address. Minimums are low for Litecoin ($10 at all four casinos) but higher for Bitcoin at Bovada ($75) and Ignition ($100). Venmo emails you when the coin arrives.
  3. Sell the coin in the Crypto tab and the dollars go to your Venmo balance. A standard transfer to your bank is free and usually takes 1 to 3 business days; an instant transfer costs 1.75% (at least $0.25, at most $25).

Watch the bank side. A verified Venmo account can move up to $5,000 per transfer and $19,999.99 a week to a bank, so a large win reaches your bank account in installments.

Selling crypto also creates paperwork. Venmo's crypto provider issues IRS Forms 1099 for crypto sales and files them with the IRS.

On the casino side, Bovada, Ignition and Cafe Casino require every deposit to be wagered in full before you can withdraw.

Know Venmo's position before you start. If Venmo believes an account has broken the Acceptable Use Policy, its user agreement lets it limit or close the account and hold the money in it for up to 180 days. Venmo's Purchase Protection also excludes gambling. Both routes here carry that risk, and it is yours to weigh.

Other ways to pay from the US

If your money sits in another app, the same MatchPay trade works with Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, Apple Pay and Chime, and ticking more than one app speeds up your match. PayPal shares Venmo's crypto service and fee table, with a higher purchase limit. Cash App deals in Bitcoin rather than Litecoin or Ethereum, but its Lightning payments arrive almost instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which online casinos accept Venmo?

Can I withdraw casino winnings to Venmo?

Yes. All four MatchPay casinos list Venmo for withdrawals: a player who wants to deposit pays you in Venmo, from $10 to $2,000 a trade and up to two withdrawals a day. Or withdraw in crypto to your Venmo crypto address and sell it for dollars.

Can I send bitcoin from Venmo to a casino?

Yes, once your identity is verified. Open the Crypto tab, pick Bitcoin, tap the transfer arrows, then Send, and paste the casino's Bitcoin deposit address. The smallest outside send is 0.001 BTC, and a network fee applies.

How much does it cost?

A MatchPay trade costs nothing, and a personal Venmo payment from your balance, bank or debit card is free. Buying crypto in Venmo costs 1.5% to 2.2% plus a spread estimated at 1%, and sending it outside Venmo adds a network fee. The four casinos above charge no fee on crypto deposits.

What are Venmo's crypto limits?

You can buy up to $20,000 of crypto a week and $50,000 in any 12 months, and send up to $25,000 of crypto a week. A deposit at the four casinos above can be up to $5,000 at a time.

Can Venmo close my account for gambling?

Yes. Venmo applies PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy, which only allows gambling payments to operators it has approved. If it believes you broke that policy, it can limit or close your account and hold your money for up to 180 days.
