Arbitrum is a Layer 2 scaling solution built on top of Ethereum. It processes transactions off the main Ethereum chain, which reduces fees significantly while inheriting Ethereum's security. A small number of crypto-accepting casinos support Arbitrum deposits and withdrawals via the ARB or ETH tokens that run on the network.

What Is Arbitrum?

Arbitrum is a Layer 2 network developed by Offchain Labs, launched on mainnet in 2021. It runs on top of Ethereum as an Optimistic Rollup: transactions are bundled and processed on Arbitrum, then submitted as compressed data to Ethereum for final settlement. The result is much lower fees than transacting directly on Ethereum mainnet, while inheriting Ethereum's security guarantees.

Because Arbitrum is fully EVM-compatible, any token or smart contract that runs on Ethereum can be deployed on Arbitrum without modification. This means ETH and ERC-20 tokens like USDC and USDT are available on Arbitrum at a fraction of the cost of the Ethereum mainnet. The native governance token, ARB, was launched in March 2023 via an airdrop to early network users.

For casino use, Arbitrum is primarily relevant if a casino explicitly supports Arbitrum network deposits. Most crypto casinos accept ETH on the Ethereum mainnet, not Layer 2 networks. Sending funds to the wrong network is a common mistake and can result in inaccessible funds.

Using Arbitrum at Online Casinos

Always confirm that the casino explicitly accepts Arbitrum network transactions before sending funds. Sending ETH or USDT from Arbitrum to a casino that only supports Ethereum mainnet may result in funds that cannot be retrieved without direct assistance from the casino's support team.

Depositing

  1. Confirm the casino supports Arbitrum deposits in its cashier.
  2. Select Arbitrum (or the specific token, e.g. ETH on Arbitrum) at the cashier and copy the deposit address.
  3. From your wallet (MetaMask with Arbitrum network added, or a native Arbitrum wallet), send the amount to the casino address.
  4. The transaction confirms in seconds. Your casino account is credited once the casino detects it.

Withdrawing

Select Arbitrum at the cashier, provide your wallet address, and confirm the amount. Funds arrive in your wallet within seconds of the casino processing the withdrawal.

Arbitrum (L2)Very lowNear-instantVery limited
PolygonVery lowNear-instantLimited
USDC (mainnet)Moderate15 to 30 secondsWide

Arbitrum's fees are substantially lower than Ethereum mainnet, but casino acceptance is far more limited. If your casino accepts Arbitrum specifically, it is an efficient choice. If it only accepts Ethereum, you need to bridge funds back to mainnet first.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Very low transaction fees compared to Ethereum mainnet
  • Near-instant transaction finality
  • Inherits Ethereum's security model
  • EVM-compatible; works with MetaMask and standard Ethereum wallets

Cons

  • Very few casinos support Arbitrum specifically (1 in our database)
  • Easy to confuse with Ethereum mainnet; wrong network means lost or inaccessible funds
  • Requires bridging to move funds back to Ethereum mainnet
  • ARB token itself has limited casino utility

Alternatives

MethodDepositsWithdrawalsNotes
EthereumMainnet ETH; widely accepted but higher fees
PolygonAnother low-fee Layer 2 alternative
Tether (USDT)Stablecoin; eliminates price volatility
BitcoinWidest crypto acceptance at online casinos

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I deposit ETH at a casino using the Arbitrum network?

Only if the casino explicitly accepts Arbitrum network deposits. Most casinos that accept ETH are referring to Ethereum mainnet. If you send ETH from Arbitrum to a mainnet-only address, the funds may be stuck. Always check the cashier and confirm the network before sending.

What wallet do I need for Arbitrum?

MetaMask works with Arbitrum once you add the Arbitrum network to your wallet settings. Any EVM-compatible wallet that supports custom networks will also work. Your Ethereum wallet address is the same on Arbitrum, which makes setup straightforward.

How do I move funds from Arbitrum back to Ethereum mainnet?

Use the official Arbitrum Bridge at bridge.arbitrum.io. Standard withdrawals take about 7 days due to the Optimistic Rollup challenge period. Third-party bridges offer faster exits but charge a fee. If you regularly need funds on mainnet, factor this delay into your planning.

Is the ARB token itself useful for casino deposits?

Rarely. ARB is primarily a governance token for voting on Arbitrum protocol changes. Very few casinos accept ARB directly as a deposit currency. Most Arbitrum casino deposits use ETH or stablecoins like USDC on the Arbitrum network, not ARB itself.

Is Arbitrum the same as Ethereum?

No. Arbitrum is a separate network that processes transactions off Ethereum and settles them back to it periodically. Think of it as a faster, cheaper layer that sits on top of Ethereum. Your wallet address is the same on both, but the networks are distinct and funds must be bridged to move between them.

Summary

Arbitrum solves the main practical problem with Ethereum at casinos: high fees. Transactions cost fractions of a cent instead of several dollars. If your casino explicitly supports Arbitrum, it is a technically superior option to Ethereum mainnet for deposits and withdrawals.

The limiting factor is acceptance. For most players, Ethereum mainnet or Bitcoin remain the more practical choices simply because more casinos accept them. Arbitrum is worth using when the casino supports it, but not worth bridging to if it doesn't.
