Money in is how you pay into your casino account. Money out is how the casino pays your winnings back to you: it approves each withdrawal first, and may ask you to verify your identity before the first one.

How Interac works at an online casino

At a casino, Interac almost always means Interac e-Transfer: the same transfer you send a friend from your online banking, addressed to the casino's payment processor instead. You need a Canadian bank or credit union account at one of the more than 250 institutions that offer it, and the money moves in Canadian dollars only.

The cashier asks you to pay in one of two ways, and both end in your own online banking. You never give the casino your banking password.

How it startsThe cashier shows a recipient name, an email address or phone number, and a reference codeThe cashier sends you a request by email or text, which may come from the processor's name
What you doSend the e-Transfer from your banking app, with the reference code in the message fieldOpen the request, pick your bank, sign in and approve it
Watch out forA missing or mistyped reference code, which leaves the casino unable to match your moneyRequests expire: Gigadat's last 48 hours

Interac Online no longer exists. Interac retired it on October 31, 2024. A casino page that still offers "Interac Online" is out of date; the Interac option in today's cashiers is e-Transfer.

How to deposit with Interac e-Transfer

  1. In the casino cashier, choose Interac and enter the amount you want to deposit.
  2. Note the details the cashier shows: the recipient name, which is often a payment processor such as Gigadat rather than the casino, the email address or phone number, and your reference code.
  3. Sign in to your online or mobile banking and start an Interac e-Transfer to that recipient for exactly that amount.
  4. Put the reference code in the message field. If your bank asks for a security question, use the answer the cashier gave you, word for word.
  5. Send the transfer. The casino credits your balance once its processor receives the money and matches your code.

With Request Money the order flips: you confirm your email address and phone number in the cashier, a request arrives by email or text, and you approve it inside your bank's own login page.

How to withdraw to Interac

  1. Choose Interac in the withdrawal section of the cashier and enter the amount. Check that the email address and phone number on your casino account are the ones your bank account uses.
  2. The casino reviews and approves the withdrawal. This is the slow part, and it depends on the casino, not on Interac.
  3. The processor sends you an Interac e-Transfer. If you have Autodeposit set up at your bank, the money lands in your account on its own.
  4. Without Autodeposit, you get a notification, sign in to your bank and type the security answer the processor sent you. Gigadat, for example, sends that answer by text from short code 387263 and by email.

Three wrong answers cancel the payout. At Gigadat, entering the wrong security answer three times cancels the e-Transfer and sends the money back to the casino, and you then have to request the withdrawal again. Copy and paste the answer rather than typing it.

Limits: your bank's first, then the casino's

Interac does not set one limit for everyone. Your bank does, and Interac says personal limits are typically $2,000 to $3,000 per transfer. These are the send limits the big banks publish:

BankHow much you can send
CIBCUp to $3,000 in 24 hours, $10,000 in 7 days and $30,000 in 30 days
RBCUp to $10,000 a day in the RBC Mobile app, once your identity is verified
National BankUp to $4,000 per 25 hours and $14,000 per 7 days
DesjardinsUp to $5,000 per transfer per 24 hours
TD, Scotiabank and BMODaily and longer limits apply; they show in your banking app

The casino then sets its own range. Several casinos we review cap an Interac withdrawal at C$3,000 a transfer, including BoaBoa, Wazamba and Talismania, while RTbet and Neon54 take Interac deposits of up to C$9,000. Minimums usually sit between C$10 and C$30. Bigger wins are paid out in several transfers, inside the casino's daily, weekly and monthly withdrawal limits.

How long Interac takes

A deposit is quick: Interac says transfers are almost instant but can take up to 30 minutes, depending on your bank. A withdrawal has two stages. First the casino processes it, which ranges from under an hour to a few business days. Then the e-Transfer is sent. Gigadat runs two kinds of payout: real time, sent around the clock and usually arriving within 15 to 30 minutes, and standard, sent Monday to Friday only and usually arriving by the next business day. Most casinos we review quote 1 to 3 banking days for Interac after approval.

Fees

Interac leaves fees to your bank, and most everyday chequing accounts include e-Transfers. RBC charges nothing on any personal chequing account, TD includes them on its Unlimited, Every Day and Student chequing accounts, Scotiabank and BMO include them in their banking packages and plans, and Desjardins includes them with a transaction plan. Receiving an e-Transfer is free at RBC and Desjardins. Several casinos we review, including Woo, PlayAmo and Cobra, list Interac with no fee of their own.

Interac is also how to avoid a credit card problem. CIBC says it may block transactions it can identify as internet gambling, and RBC reserves the right to block transactions connected to online gambling and treats gambling as a cash advance. An e-Transfer comes out of your bank account, so it is not a card payment at all.

An e-Transfer is final once it is deposited. Interac does not hold funds and cannot trace them, so a deposit sent to the wrong address cannot be pulled back by Interac. Copy the cashier's details exactly, never put a security answer in the message field, and remember that Interac never asks for your banking password by email or text.

Is Interac the best way to pay?

Why Canadians choose it

  • Paid straight from your own bank account, in Canadian dollars
  • No card, no e-wallet and no crypto to set up
  • Deposits usually land within minutes
  • Free with most chequing accounts

What to weigh

  • Bank limits of a few thousand dollars a day
  • Withdrawals capped per transfer at many casinos
  • Some casinos take Interac for deposits only
  • Payouts wait for business days at most casinos

Other ways to pay from Canada

If a casino does not offer Interac, e-wallets such as MuchBetter, Skrill and Neteller, or Bitcoin, are the usual routes. Two older Canadian bank options are gone: InstaDebit stopped taking deposits on February 27, 2026, and iDebit's Canadian website is no longer online. Our Canada casino guide shows every route Canadian players have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I withdraw casino winnings to Interac?

Yes, at most casinos that take Interac deposits. The casino approves the withdrawal and its payment processor sends you an Interac e-Transfer. Some casinos take Interac for deposits only, so check the withdrawal list in the cashier before you deposit.

How long does an Interac casino withdrawal take?

The casino's own processing comes first, from under an hour to a few business days. The e-Transfer then arrives within 15 to 30 minutes on a real time payout, or by the next business day on a standard one. Most casinos we review quote 1 to 3 banking days after approval.

What is the most I can deposit with Interac?

Your bank's send limit sets the ceiling, typically $2,000 to $3,000 per transfer, and up to $10,000 a day at RBC in its app. The casino's own maximum applies on top, and some go as high as C$9,000 a deposit.

Does Interac charge a fee for casino deposits?

Interac leaves fees to your bank, and most everyday chequing accounts include e-Transfers at no charge. Check your account plan, and check the cashier, which shows any casino fee before you confirm.

Why does my Interac e-Transfer go to Gigadat and not the casino?

Many casinos take Interac through a payment processor, and Gigadat is one of them. The recipient name you send to, or the name on a Request Money, is the processor's. Our Gigadat page explains how to recognize a genuine Gigadat payment.

Is Interac Online still available at casinos?

No. Interac retired Interac Online on October 31, 2024. Casinos now take Interac by e-Transfer, either a transfer you send or a Request Money you approve.
